My Bachelor degree project was about human anatomy and its specific language. I translated anatomical terms of mostly Greek or Latin origin into German and supported the emerging associations by literary texts. For example the word "muscle" derives from the Latin "musculus" and means "little mouse" or the word "meniscus" means "half moon".
The final outcome shows a new form of anatomy book combining science texts and fictional literature. Each of the twelve chapters introduces one part of the human body like a bone, muscle, cell or cartilage. The chapters start by an anatomical introduction explaining the object's general function, which is followed by a translation of the specific anatomical term. This translation leads to an associative anthology of typographically interpreted texts.
All together this work emphasizes the imaginativeness and wit within the anatomical language.
